While the salaries of transportation security screeners were fairly uniform throughout the state, those of the other professions listed varied quite a bit in different geographic areas of Texas.

Explosive workers earned more than the state’s average when they were located in San Antonio with wages averaging $54,100 in 2012.

The salaries of the supervisors of protective service workers were higher both in certain cities and in the nonmetropolitan areas of eastern and central Texas. The top earners in Amarillo averaged $116,590 a year.

Information security analysts in Austin averaged $93,430 a year, while those in Houston had an average salary of $94,850. The top earners in these two cities averaged $135,820 and $147,880 a year, respectively.
