Homeland security professionals in New Mexico work to keep residents of the state and the country from harm’s way. Salary data for 2012 for the state has been provided by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The average wage for key homeland security occupations is listed below, followed by the average salary of those who earned in the top 10th percentile of their profession.
For some of these professions, salaries average higher for the state as a whole than in the major cities of New Mexico. For example, protective service worker supervisors in Santa Fe who earned in the top of their field averaged $65,470 a year in 2012.
Information security analysts in Albuquerque earned an average of $76,620. The average salary of transportation security screeners in the city was about the same as that for the state as a whole: $35,700.
